A short loop that once ran along both banks lost its northern half when a bridge was rebuilt for road traffic. The southern track stayed in use for another decade. I have the closure year for the north leg from a timetable, but the exact last day of service I still cannot confirm.

Several inner-city depots were kept in use after their trams went, simply re-fitted for buses. You can often read the original layout in the roof trusses and the spacing of the old inspection pits, even where the rails are paved over.

Early networks ran small four-wheel cars that rode roughly on worn track. Longer cars on two bogies carried more people and sat more steadily, so most systems moved to them once loadings grew. A few of the older cars survived as works vehicles long after passenger service ended.
